Allara was built on a simple belief: women deserve to feel heard, seen, and understood in healthcare. On our fourth anniversary, we’re reflecting on what we've achieved, how far we’ve come, and where we’re headed.

Allara launched to provide a new standard of care for women with PCOS. “I was diagnosed with PCOS after years of struggling with unexplained health issues,” says Rachel Blank, Allara’s CEO and founder. “Despite seeing multiple doctors, reading a ton of information, and trying so many different diets, I continued to feel alone and frustrated.” She started building Allara to change this landscape, giving women the support that was missing. That’s how our care model, which brings together women’s health specialists and Registered Dietitians to provide a well-rounded, personalized experience, was born.

For Rachel, what began as a personal health journey became a calling to create a space for women to get the care they deserve. Since our launch, we’ve expanded to treat a wide range of conditions and symptoms, brought our care nationwide, and supported over 30,000 women in managing their hormonal concerns – but we’re just getting started.

Here’s a reflection on each year of Allara, what we’ve learned, and what we’re striving towards.

2021: Staring down the gap in our healthcare system

A 2016 study found that nearly half of the women with PCOS visited 3 or more healthcare providers before getting diagnosed; a  2018 survey revealed that many women with PCOS felt an overall lack of emotional support and empathy from their healthcare provider. We knew there wasn’t enough support for women with PCOS. But when we launched in 2021, we learned just how many women were impacted by this gap in our healthcare system.

When we shared what we were building, the response was huge: almost 14,000 women signed up for our waitlist and over 30,000 people started following us on Instagram and Tik Tok – even before we officially launched.

But what really drove our work forward was the reaction of the first Allara patients to our experience. They expressed deep relief at finally feeling listened to; they shared that they’d never felt supported by their healthcare, until now. The response was inspiring, but it also confirmed what we’d suspected: Rachel wasn’t alone, and true support for women with PCOS had been missing in our healthcare system.

2022: Expanding our care

PCOS was our starting point, but we soon realized how many more women could benefit from our integrated care model. One in three women struggle with a chronic condition – ranging from endometriosis, to Hashimoto’s, to thyroid concerns. Many more are affected by unexplained or undiagnosed symptoms that interfere with many aspects of their lives.

We realized we could support more women who hadn’t felt validated by the healthcare system, had struggled to find solutions, and were dealing with debilitating symptoms. We expanded our care to treat them, with the hypothesis that they needed support, too. And we were right: in 2022, our patient population grew by over 500%. We provided the same care model to help these patients, merging medical, nutrition, and lifestyle care to personalize treatment to each woman.

We could see the difference our care was making for patients. But the next question became, how do we ensure that more women have access to our care? In August of 2022 we began accepting insurance - if our mission is to provide women with the healthcare they deserve, access is at the heart of our work. This effort is never finished, and we’re continuously working to accept more insurance plans to meet women where they are, and provide accessible care.

2023: The impact of our care

By 2023, our patient population was steadily growing, and sharing their results with us: “After seeing multiple doctors for my PCOS and having no results, I can't thank the Allara team enough for treating me as an individual, and giving me a new perspective on managing my PCOS symptoms,” said one patient in 2023, “It feels like they are really listening to me,” said another. Connecting with our patient community gave us an understanding of what our providers were really excelling at: treating each patient as a whole-person, not just parts.

This was also a moment where we could see the impact of years of care with Allara. “At this point, we’d had patients who had been working with us since 2021,” said Dr. Tiffany Pham, a Board Certified OBGYN and the medical lead at Allara. “We could see the effects of our care for these patients: women were getting pregnant after being able to regulate their cycle, losing weight through sustainable solutions, and gaining a better understanding of their health.” The impact of our care was a testament to the work of our provider team, who continued to go above and beyond for each patient.

2024: Growing our provider base

Our team of OBGYNs, Nurse Practitioners, Endocrinologists, and Registered Dietitians is at the heart of everything we do. They work day in and day out to make a difference for our patients, providing support that raises the standard of women’s healthcare.

In order to serve more patients, we continuously welcome new providers to our platform. We look for those who understand Allara’s mission, and are able to deliver the level of high-tough care that our patients deserve. In 2024 we grew our provider base by 3 times

Tripling the number of available providers significantly increased the access to care on our platform. It gave patients more appointment options, allowing them to get the support they needed faster. Growing our base of compassionate providers helps us deliver our multi-disciplinary care to more women in the US.

2025: Forward looking

We’ve come a long way, but we’re just getting started.

The expertise, compassion, and dedication of our providers sets us apart, and it shows in our patient experience. In April of 2025:

  • 90% of Allara patients reported an improvement in their symptoms
  • 98% felt they had a clear treatment plan to move forward
  • 97% felt more hopeful after their appointment
  • 98% felt their provider listened to them

What started as Rachel’s personal struggle has grown into a mission that drives the Allara team forward everyday. We know how many women struggle with hormonal concerns, and how many of them are lacking true support. We’re on a mission to fill that gap for all of them.

"Before Allara I had no real direction or understanding of what it meant to have PCOS. Now I have a team of people that take time to explain every single thing to me, ask me how I feel and let me be apart of my treatment plan and I’ve lost 55 pounds."
